In 2025 we asked scientists from around the world to send us their images representing the areas of Astronomy, Behaviour, Earth Science and Climatology, Ecology and Environmental Science, and Microimaging. We are delighted to now present the winners and runners-up, including our overall winner from the Microimaging category Dr Martín J. Ramírez for his image “Mesmerizing spider threads”.
Our thanks go to everyone who submitted their photographs and to the judges who looked over these. Please revisit this page in 2026 for updates on next year’s competition.
The Royal Society Publishing Photography Competition is supported by The Royal Photographic Society and sponsored by the journals of the Royal Society. Visit our journals homepage to view the full portfolio and read our published research.
